“A man who thinks the nation cannot do without him is a dangerous man and should be locked up” Patrick Wilmot.

I am compelled through this medium to contribute to the issue at stake which has turn Niger State to a source of news gathering and this can be justified by the prominence it has received from various newspapers.

This is coming when the governor is trying to fulfill his campaign promises so that Nigerlites shall witness the much-needed dividends of democracy, which they had been deprived of for the last 8 years.

Any person (excluding benefactors within corridors of power) who witnessed the democratic learning process (1999-2007) in Niger State will surely accept to be a pillar, a supporter and even pray for the new administration to succeed and applaud the initiative behind the setting up of the judicial commission of inquiry to investigate all contract awarded between 1999-2007. I always ask myself these questions: When all the misappropriation of public/tax payers funds were channeled toward non-people oriented projects and self enrichment which lasted for 8 years, were the “Elders” on exile? Is it that they benefited from this unscrupulous act? or why did they stay mute and refused to caution the former governor when he was financing the unrealized “project 2007” with public funds? Surprisingly, when all these unfold, only few Nigerlites took time to rise against the past administration and even to the extent of inviting EFCC to the State.

When our parents (retirees) after putting meritorious years of dedicated service to the state during Kure’s administration did not receive their entitlements, no body was able to let Kure see reason on the relevance for him to pay their entitlements.

I agree with the retirees for pouring a lot of encomiums to the Chief Servant for paying what is due to them.

I have come to agree that when you begin to think upright, that is when SOME PEOPLE will begin to say you are abnormal and you are over exaggerating.

This has proven itself in the polity of Niger State without joining issues with anyone, with regards to the chief servant's stance to ensure probity, transparency and accountability in governance.

In context with my introductory quote of renowned scholar, it is worthy to assert here, with misfiling and anger in me that some undesirable, unpatriotic, sycophants and above all opportunists who find their way to corridors of power or want to assume leadership with no sense of development and responsibility in them are calling the Niger State Governor Dr. M.B. Aliyu with different kinds of adjectives so as to portray negative image about him on the minds of Nigerlites.

This is also proven with the recent one page Advertorial by Engr. Kure which appeared in the leadership weekend newspaper on page 46 of 1st December. In addition, David Umaru ANPP governorship Aspirant in the state also branded the Chief Servant as some one who “Has no respect for our generals” in an interview he granted to Leadership newspaper on December 14, 2007 (page 10).

Conclusively, it is my prime hope that, the Chief Servant can and should prove critics wrong that accountability and transparency can be applied in executing government business and activities in Niger State.

I most sincerely inform the chief servant that Nigerlites (patriotic one’s) share in his views and initiatives in transforming Niger State into one of the top three economies in Nigeria by the year 2020.

No doubt whoever depend on God, He is sufficient for him.
